For me, having combination/oily skin has caused me a lot of stress for a solid decade when it comes to searching for a good, long lasting foundation. I’ve tried countless options over the years and I think I’ve finally found my favourites, so here are my top picks for every budget.
For a cheap option I love Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation. It’s a pretty heavy duty and full coverage choice, but it lasts longer than any other drugstore foundation on my pretty oily skin. Personally, I love a matte finish foundation as I know there’s a pretty good chance it will suit my skin type and this one just happens to be the best of the drugstore bunch; though saying that, it rises to the challenge against a fair few pricey ones too. Literally every time I have tried dewy foundations on the cheaper end of the spectrum my forehead is hella shiny after a couple of hours, even if I’m gonna go mad with powdering and setting. It just isn’t worth it. Do yourself a favour if you’re looking for a good reliable foundation from the drugstore by trying this very good matte finish one.
If there’s any foundation that lives up to it’s hyped name, it’s the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation – it really is magic stuff. The biggest difference with the cheaper foundation pick is that this one feels like you’re not wearing makeup, it’s super light and in no way pore blocking or irritating for sensitive, acne prone skin, so your face actually feels like it can breathe even when you’ve had makeup on all day. I would say this foundation doesn’t have an intense matte finish and is borderline satin so if ultra matte isn’t your jam and you like a touch of dewyness then the Magic Foundation could honestly be the magic one for you. Out of all of the mentioned foundations here, this is definitely the one I gravitate most towards on a day to day basis.
You know a foundation is pretty amazing when it’s been raved about by hugely influential beauty bloggers from all over the world. If you’re wondering which one it is it’s Power Fabric by Giorgio Armani, the matte sister to the brand’s bestselling Luminous Finish Foundation. Power Fabric is a match made in heaven for those with oily skin and despite being really matte and full coverage, it blends out super easily and looks so natural on skin, in real life and in photos, from the moment you apply it to whenever you remove it. Even though this stuff is the priciest of the bunch, a little really does go a long way.
I hope you enjoyed reading my first ever beauty post and loved finding out about my oily/combination skin foundation picks. What is your go to foundation? Have you tried any of my choices? I’d love it if you let me know in the comments.
See you soon,
