Acne sucks. Acne during the summer? Even harder to deal with. More often than not, I struggle with oil control through the summer partly through having to cut back on my usual aggressive spot fighting treatments. Acids and sun exposure are a pretty dangerous combination, trust me on that one. In light of this, I’ve spent a couple of years searching for sunscreen that doesn’t cause my acne to flare up but isn’t too expensive either. So… here are my top picks…
If you’re someone who struggles with enlarged pores Avene B Protect SPF50 could be the perfect facial sunscreen for you. It is a white cream that turns colourless when you apply it to skin but then it has this cool blurring formula that literally blurs any imperfections, so much so I’d recommend it to anyone as a pore refining makeup primer with the added bonus of serious sun protection.
La Roche Posay Anthelios Comfort SPF50+ is a really fabulous option for face and body if your skin is super sensitive and seems to break out no matter what you use on it. The only thing you’d perhaps have to watch out for is that although this is good stuff, you can occasionally be left with white marks if you apply to much as it isn’t the quickest cream to melt into the skin, but the pros of this stuff far outweigh the cons.
Despite all of the warnings, some of us are still lazy when it comes to sun protection and want to avoid using a cream completely. If this is you, Bioderma Hydrabio Eau de Soin SPF30 may be the best discovery you make for your summer facial skincare regime. I would totally recommend this either alone or under makeup and this is probably one of the best options out there for an injection of hydration that most acne sufferers probably need after using pretty intense cleansers and acids that constantly strip moisture from your skin.
Contrary to what you might think, you can use dry-oil based products even if you are an acne sufferer. I’ve seen nothing but glowing reviews for Vichy’s new Idéal Soleil Solar Protective Water SPF30 Enhanced Tan. It genuinely feels amazingly smooth and light on the skin and looks super glowy all day, whilst scoring well when it comes to ease of application too.
Anyway, I hope you’ve loved reading my picks and would love to hear your feedback if you’ve tried any of these favourites of mine.
See you soon,
